Walking the “Yellow Carpet”

Roll out the red carpet! Or was that a yellow one? I guess mother nature has her own views on what a “red carpet” event entails and on this particular tree-lined street, yellow was the colour du jour. In any case, we were flattered by the celebrity welcome that we received from Gaia in one of Auckland’s leafy inner-city suburbs. The yellow and green hues around us provided a very luscious backdrop and the earthly tones of our garments blended in quite nicely into these surroundings, creating a very autumnal yet sunny “look” for this photoshoot.

This winter, the “gloves are on” and, here, Cleo Barnett wears an elegant, taupe-coloured leather pair. Not only will they keep your nimble Twitter and Facebook-loving fingers warm until you get home to write those all-important status updates but it is a simple way to add a touch of class to your winter look. Speaking of keeping warm, sweaters are also in vogue and the bigger the knit, and baggier the style – the better. Here, I have donned Cleo’s vintage cardigan over my newly acquired striped dress from Cotton On, while my feet walk the “yellow carpet” in a pair of boots purchased from Mi Piaci. Final tip for avoiding the cold in style: wear boots or wedges with a “cool” looking pair of socks.
